A well-developed, current curriculum provides many benefits for students and teachers. A curriculum that lays out course objectives and content sequencing allows the teacher to focus on designing specific lessons and assessments to teach individual students effectively. Additionally, curriculum planning helps a teacher ensure that standards are being addressed and met. This webinar will include presenters from elementary, middle, secondary, and higher education to provide a balanced review of this important activity.
Janis Nunnally
Art Educator, Upperman Middle School, Baxter, TN
Janis Nunnally is a middle school art educator in TN, and the Middle Level Director for NAEA. She holds a BA in Art from Transylvania University, a master’s in curriculum and instruction from Tennessee Tech, and she is a 2018 graduate of the NAEA School for Art Leaders. As a past President of TAEA, she planned two state conferences, and she is a member of the NAEA Cultural Competency Pilot Group. Awards: 2013 TAEA Middle Level and 2021 TAEA Art Educator of the Year.
Trina Harlow
University of North Texas Adjunct Graduate Faculty
Trina Harlow has been an educator for 29 years, serving 21 years in K–12 education and 9 years in higher education. She holds a master’s degree in art education from Boston University and a PhD in curriculum and instruction from Kansas State University. Her research is centered on biography-driven instruction, teacher education, social–emotional learning, fiber arts, and self-esteem through the arts.
Leslie Grace
Lead Visual Art Educator, Nebinger Elementary, Philadelphia, PA
Leslie Grace teaches art at Nebinger Elementary in South Philadelphia, as well as the University of the Arts and Moore College. She holds a BFA in Art Education and an MS in Art Education, and she is a Past President of PAEA and the NAEA Elementary Division Director-Elect. She was awarded the PAEA Award for Outstanding Elementary Art Educator in 2016 and was part of the NAEA School for Art Leaders class in 2019. She was also awarded the Lindback Award for Distinguished Teaching from the School District of Philadelphia in 2022.
Linda Kieling
Art Educator, Adrienne C. Nelson High, Oregon
Linda Kieling has been an art educator for 32 years. She currently teaches Ceramics, Ceramics ll, Advanced Art, AP Art, and she is also a sponsor for the National Art Honor Society. As the current Secondary Division Director for NAEA, she also serves on the Council for Art Education where she facilitates the Youth Art Month program. Kieling has lived near Portland, OR for 24 years; she loves to travel, make art, spend time with her five children and their families, plus all the family dogs.

Once the webinar is completed, you may view/print a Certification of Participation under the "Contents" tab. You may also print a transcript of all webinars attended under the "Dashboard" link in the right sidebar section of the page.
Clock hours provided upon completion of any NAEA professional learning program are granted for participation in an organized professional learning experience under responsible sponsorship, capable direction and qualified instruction, and can be used toward continuing education credit in most states. It is the responsibility of the participant to verify acceptance by professional governing authorities in their area.
